FROM THE CHURCH BLOG by Casey Tatum "Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him,and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?" - Isaiah 58:7 This verse for me is a clear reminder that we as followers of Jesus Christ, are all called to really love (not just in word, but with action), and to give to the most vulnerable and often most overlooked in our world. It is not the government's job to provide and care for people--it is the job of the Body of Christ. If we want to be like Jesus, we must go to where people are hurting, meet their needs, and love them where they are.  READ THE REST OF THIS ENTRY HERE   .......................................................................................................................................    FROM OUR COLLEGIATE MISSIONARIES HANNAH LETSON WRITES: Thursday, we woke up EARLY (before 6) and drove downtown to Guatemala City to the Mary Magdalena House/Medical clinic. We worshiped and served some people local to the house breakfast. This ministry house is in a bad part of town and ministers to the druggies and prostitutes. It was a good experience, and I haven’t felt God’s presence so clearly in a long time. I realized during that time that, although I missed home like crazy, and things haven’t been exactly as I planned, I am here for a purpose. God has called me, Hannah Letson, to comfort and love these people this summer and to work to my best ability. We also got a chance to work @ the medical clinic. READ THE REST HERE. ANDI HOLWAY WRITES:  Today i visited the city dump, where 10,000 people live and work. they collect certain items, like plastic, to sell. it was so sad to see how people work and live like that. they were dirty and all crammed into tiny houses made of scraps. Then we went to buy pizza to feed teenagers who live on the street. There were several and the whole time they were sniffing paint thinners to get high.
